On our business applications suite, it took a total of 18 minutes. Our performance tests (timed with QualityLogic's hardware and software, put the 1510 way out in front in its price range. You can choose between using four ink colors, with the black and tricolor cartridge that the printer ships with, or using six colors for photos, by replacing the black cartridge with a photo cartridge that holds black, light-cyan, and light-magenta inks. Setup is typical for AIOs that connect by USB 2.0, with two cartridges to install and a fully automated installation program. The 1510 is small enough, at 6.4 by 17.1 by 11.4 inches (HWD), to share a desk with comfortably, which also makes it a potential good fit as a light-duty personal desktop AIO in a larger office. All this adds up to just the right mix of features for a typical home or home office. And it's faster than printers that cost more than twice as much. But in addition to basic printing, scanning, and copying, it offers one or two extras, most notably a PictBridge connector on the front for printing directly from cameras. The HP PSC 1510 All-in-One ($99.99 direct) fits that mold in that it lacks both a fax capability and an automatic document feeder (ADF).
Most $100 all-in-ones are decidedly minimalist, with indifferent performance and no features beyond the basics.
